- What it is:
- An AI calorie tracker, food diary and weight tracker in one app, with a personal calorie and macro plan to lose weight, tone up, stay in shape or build muscle.
- Devices:
- iPhone with iOS 17 or later; iPad with iPadOS 17 or later; Apple Watch with watchOS 11 or later, working alongside the iPhone app.
- Languages:
- Eight: English, Ukrainian, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Romanian and Polish.
- Price:
- Free to download, and the Basic plan stays free forever: the food diary, weight, plan, water and supplements, plus a little AI every day. Pro and Pro+ are monthly or yearly App Store subscriptions; prices depend on your region, and the App Store shows yours before you buy. New subscribers may be offered a free trial.
- AI coach:
- On every plan: a little every day on Basic, more on Pro, unlimited on Pro+. Pro+ also brings the Ultimate coach — an AI team of four experts (a nutritionist, a dietitian, a trainer and a mentor) in one conversation, with 10 answers a day. Neither coach is a doctor.
- AI models:
- Models from OpenAI and DeepSeek, reached through 17 Fit’s server; if one provider fails, the other takes over the request. The Ultimate coach runs on DeepSeek, with OpenAI stepping in only if DeepSeek fails. Apple’s speech recognition turns your voice into text, and only the text reaches the server. Offline, the phone can still recognise a photo itself, though less accurately. On iOS 26, iPhones with Apple Intelligence also understand a typed or spoken meal on the device — free and offline — when the app is in English, German, Spanish, French or Italian.
- Food data:
- A built-in catalogue of 2,500+ foods and dishes from cuisines around the world, with nutrition from the official USDA FoodData Central (US), CIQUAL (France) and CoFID (UK) databases. Packaged products are looked up by barcode in Open Food Facts.
- Apple Health:
- 17 Fit only reads steps, active calories and weight from it, and writes nothing to it.
- Privacy:
- No ads, no third-party analytics or trackers, and no selling of data. No sign-up: the account is anonymous, with no name, e‑mail or phone number (a nickname only if you use Personal supervision). Progress photos never leave the phone. Privacy policy
- Support:
- Support page and e‑mail: a person reads every message, and we reply in English or Ukrainian.
What 17 Fit does
- Logging. Log a meal with a plate photo, your voice, a barcode or a photo of the nutrition label; snap a restaurant menu, or add a recipe from a link, a cookbook photo or plain text. Batch cooking: weigh the pot once and take portions for days, or let a compatible Bluetooth kitchen scale weigh each ingredient. The database holds 2,500+ foods and dishes, with “For you” picks, and “Same as yesterday” repeats yesterday’s meal in one tap. Bring your diary over from another calorie counter or a CSV file.
- Plan. A calorie and macro target in 30 seconds, a weekly check-in, a weight trend with a goal-date forecast, a gentle move to maintenance, an energy balance screen, and a menu for the week with a shopping list.
- AI coach. Remembers your conversations, looks up any day of your diary, talks in one of six styles, keeps a weekly goal with you, sets reminders, plans meals and writes first when something matters. All about the coach
- Pro+. The Ultimate coach — an AI team of four experts in one conversation; Personal supervision, where your own dietitian, trainer or doctor follows your progress; and a weekly review of your plates, with one focus for the next week.
- iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. On the watch: today’s ring, logging a meal by voice or in one tap, water and weight on the Digital Crown, fasting and complications. On iPad: a layout made for the big screen, with the week’s menu as a board. On iPhone: a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, widgets, Control Center, the Action Button, Siri and Shortcuts, Spotlight, Visual Intelligence (iOS 26), Apple Intelligence on iPhones that support it (iOS 26), and Apple Health. All about Apple Watch and iPad
- Everything else. 24 vitamins and minerals, plus 400+ supplements that count toward them; water tracking; intermittent fasting from 12:12 to 23:1, with stages, history and streaks; body measurements, a body-fat estimate and before‑and‑after photos; challenges, a logging streak, weekly and monthly recaps and a PDF report for your dietitian; story cards with or without numbers; “No numbers” mode, a guilt-free pause and a Today screen arranged your way — which cards and in what order; kilograms and grams, or pounds, ounces and stones.
How food recognition works
Photo. The AI finds each dish on the plate and estimates its weight. 17 Fit matches what it found to its own database, so the calories and macros come from official data; when a dish, or that exact kind of it, isn’t in the database, the AI estimates its nutrition and the app labels it as an “AI estimate”. Before anything is logged, you see every dish with its grams: adjust the weight with a slider, swap the dish for a suggested alternative or search for the right one. The diary trusts your numbers, not the model’s.
Voice. Apple’s speech recognition turns what you say into text. Only the text reaches our server, never a recording of your voice, and the AI there breaks it down into dishes and grams.
Apple Intelligence. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence running iOS 26, a typed or spoken meal is understood on the iPhone itself — free, offline and outside the daily AI limits — when the app is in English, German, Spanish, French or Italian.
Barcode, label, menu. A barcode finds the product in Open Food Facts; from a photo of the label, the AI reads the macros straight off the pack. On a restaurant menu, calories are an AI estimate based on a typical recipe — portions and sauces vary.
Photos of plates, menus and labels, and typed or spoken meals (as text), go through our server to an OpenAI or DeepSeek model; our server stores neither the photos nor the texts. Without the internet, the phone recognises a photo itself in “On device” mode, though less accurately.
For a more accurate result:
- Shoot the whole plate in daylight.
- Oil, sauces and sugar barely show in a photo, so add them separately.
- For packaged food, a barcode or a label beats a photo.
- Connect a compatible Bluetooth kitchen scale, and the grams fill in by themselves.
- Pro and Pro+ include “Enhanced accuracy” mode, which is better at telling food varieties and complex dishes apart.
How the plan adapts
In 30 seconds, 17 Fit works out your starting calorie and macro target with the Mifflin–St Jeor formula, adjusted for your activity and your goal, from weight loss to muscle gain. From then on, the plan learns from your data.
- Weight trend. Your weight swings 1–2 kg (2–4 lb) a day with water and salt. The trend smooths out those jumps, shows the real direction and forecasts the date you’ll reach your goal.
- Weekly check-in. Once a week, the app compares what you ate with your weight trend over the last three weeks and refines how much you really burn, so your target follows your own metabolism and everyday activity. Days with less than half your basal metabolic rate logged are left out as probably incomplete.
- Energy balance. A screen of its own shows what you really burn and the deficit you’re running. With Apple Health connected, the burn follows your actual movement — active calories from a watch, or your steps.
- Maintenance. Once you reach your goal, 17 Fit offers to switch to maintenance: your target rises by about 100 kcal a week until it reaches your maintenance calories. From then on, the app watches a range of 1.5 kg (about 3 lb) either side of the weight you reached, and if the trend leaves it, suggests a two-week correction.
- Pause. On holiday or unwell? Take a pause: your streak is kept, reminders go quiet and the plan won’t count those days.
The AI coach and the Ultimate coach
The coach is an AI nutritionist inside your food diary, on every plan: a little every day on Basic, more on Pro, unlimited on Pro+. It sees your food, weight, steps, fasting and vitamins, and answers with your numbers rather than generic advice.
- Memory. It remembers your conversations and keeps the important facts about you in “What I remember”, where you can change or remove any of them. Pin the answers you want to keep.
- Any day. It looks up the days of your diary it needs, so you don’t have to retell your entries.
- Character. Six styles — “Friendly”, “Demanding”, “Gentle”, “Brief”, “Playful” and “Science” — and a male or female coach, your choice.
- Photos. It understands a photo of your plate, your fridge or a menu.
- A goal for the week. You and the coach agree on a goal — three meals a day, say — and the app checks it against your entries every day, showing your progress on Today.
- Actions. It sets reminders, records what you agreed and plans meals with a shopping list. With “The coach writes first” on, it messages you when something matters.
The Ultimate coach is part of Pro+: an AI team of four experts (a nutritionist, a dietitian, a trainer and a mentor) in one conversation. It picks the depth itself, from a quick answer to a deep analysis with an action plan. It reads photos too, and keeps a dossier that grows with every conversation; you can edit or delete any point in it. It gives 10 answers a day, separate from the everyday coach.
The coach isn’t a doctor, and neither is the Ultimate team — the app says so plainly: for health matters, talk to a specialist. All about the coach
Personal supervision
Personal supervision opens your progress to a specialist you choose yourself — a dietitian, nutritionist, trainer or doctor. 17 Fit doesn’t assign one: on Pro+ you invite up to three people, each with a one-time key valid for 48 hours, and decide what each one sees and can do.
- Sections. Food diary, weight and measurements, weekly menu, supplements, goals and targets, water and fasting, the AI coach’s dossier — you open each section separately. Body and meal photos are never shared with a specialist.
- Levels. “Observes” sees the sections you open, live, with no comments or changes. “Advises” comments and proposes changes to the menu, supplements, goals, water and fasting, which you accept or decline. “Leads” makes changes directly, without asking you first, and you can revert any of them.
- Control. An access journal shows who looked at your data, when, and what they changed. You can pause or end access at any time.
- For specialists. Any 17 Fit user can be one: supervise one client for free, or up to five with Pro+. “My templates” and “AI draft” help with replies. There is no web version: it all happens in the 17 Fit app, and the client’s data refreshes while the app is open.
What makes 17 Fit different
- No ads, no sign-up. No third-party analytics or trackers, and your data is never sold. The account is anonymous and tied to your phone — no name, e‑mail or phone number (a nickname only if you use Personal supervision).
- Your numbers come first. Nutrition comes from official databases, and every AI estimate is shown and can be corrected before it’s logged.
- A plan that learns. Your target is checked against your weight trend every week instead of resting on a formula.
- A coach with memory and character. More than an AI dietitian with generic advice: it remembers your conversations, looks up your diary itself, talks in one of six styles and acts — reminders, menus, a goal for the week.
- Your own specialist, if you want one. On Pro+, your dietitian, trainer or doctor follows your progress in 17 Fit, within the limits you set.
- Wherever suits you. Log a meal in seconds from your wrist, your iPad, the Lock Screen, a widget, the Action Button or Siri; on iPhones with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26), a spoken or typed meal is understood on the device, even offline.
- No pressure. “No numbers” mode swaps calories for words, and a guilt-free pause covers holidays and illness.
