Calories in alcoholic drinks per 100 ml and per glass

24 foods on 17 Fit are alcoholic drinks. The lightest per 100 ml: shandy, beer and hard cider.

The calories in an alcoholic drink come mostly from its alcohol, at 7 kcal a gram, and its sugar. Spirits and the martini, with the most alcohol and almost no sugar, top the table at 200–265 kcal per 100 ml; sweetened cocktails such as the margarita and piña colada come to 120–150, while drinks topped up with soda, juice or sparkling wine, like the mojito, mimosa and spritz, are lighter than wine. Beer and cider are the lightest per 100 ml, but a 500 ml glass of beer has about 215 kcal, more than a glass of wine or a margarita. The alcohol in a glass, estimated from the calories that protein, fat and carbs don’t account for, runs from about 8 g in a mimosa to nearly 30 g in a martini.
